Situated on the hills to the east of Snowdon, the dense and extensive Gwydir Forest, covering 17915 acres, rises from the Conwy Valley. Gwydir Forest offers panoramic views of the Glyderau, Carneddau and Snowdon mountain ranges.
Coed y Brenin (Welsh for Kings Forest) is a Forest in the Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Coed Y Brenin, the King's Forest, covers some 9000 acres north of Dolgellau. The forest straddles the Eden, Gain, Mawddach and Wen rivers. Although still a working forest, managed by the Forestry Commission, Coed Y Brenin was designated a forest park during the 1990's and is now famed for its cycling trails and other recreational facilities.
